Connection
We know that relationships and social connection are a big indicator of health. For people who have experienced gender-based violence, healthy relationships can be powerful deterrents to returning to a violent situation. We have developed a number of programs to help grow organic relationships between those we work with, and our caring, supportive community.
Community Garden
WRRC has developed a community garden over the last six years in response to a growing need in our community. Lack of access to local, healthy and affordable food is affecting families every single day. Our garden is open to anyone in our community to plant, water, grow and harvest at anytime. We invite all to stop by and harvest locally grown, free produce to feed their families.

Community Cupboard
WRRC has a small community cupboard for women and families to access if needed. In addition to food, there are also personal hygiene items. Please access between the hours of 9-5, Monday to Friday.
I Want Support for my Kids
Children are often witnesses to domestic abuse, and internalize what they see and hear in different ways. WRRC has a robust children’s program. With a focus on play therapy, our children’s team explores feelings and helps support kiddos and youth to process what they’ve seen and heard.
It is our belief that kids are never at fault for the abuse they witness, or how they process it. Because of this, we also work with moms and caregivers through individual and group counseling and therapy.
Dealing with Trauma/Abuse/Addictions/Mental Health/Poverty
Domestic violence often comes with impossible choices for women. Sometimes, women must choose between living with violence and thrusting herself and her children into poverty. Sometimes, women cope with trauma through self-medication and addiction. WRRC recognizes the complexities that often intersect with domestic violence. Staff at WRRC understands these complexities, and approach allying with women we serve with compassion, understanding, and judgment-free support.
