At WRRC, we celebrate women and their accomplishments every day of the year. However, on March 8th, we celebrate with many different countries and cultures around the world for International Women’s Day (IWD). Check out the video below for the history, and some of the everyday items you use that were invented by women!

So cool right? This day is significant, because for centuries women have been ignored, erased and their contributions hidden. On International Women’s Day, we recognize and celebrate not only the incredible woman throughout history, but the women who make our lives better every single day.
“It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.” – United Nations
This year at WRRC, we’re doing something a little different to celebrate IWD. Typically, we have held and open house and invited the entire community in for our a tour of our facility and what we do. Instead, we’re asking WRRC supporters to do a few different things.

It’s little connections and moments like this that can effect big change – not only in our local community, but around the world. For more information on IWD – check out their website.
If you are looking to support WRRC on International Women’s Day, we always accept cash donations, as well as different products that you can find on our donations page. In addition, the Middlesex Business Help Centre is collecting donations on WRRC’s behalf this year. So if you are attending that event on March 8th, you can make your contributions there.
Also – we would love to have you stop by and learn more about what we do. Give us a call, and we’ll arrange a tour of our facility with you at your convenience. And let us know how you’re celebrating IWD, either in the comments or on our social media feeds! Pictures are encouraged 🙂
Happy International Women’s Day!
