Things are looking a little different at Women’s Rural Resource Centre for Christmas this year. We, as an organization are always changing and evolving, but our core vision remains the same – A vibrant community where women and children can thrive in healthy relationships.
This arc is also reflective of a woman’s journey when she arrives at WRRC seeking support. For women and children we work with, the past can be painful and traumatic. Through domestic abuse women are taught that they are worthless, unlovable and incapable. At WRRC we know that nothing could be further from the truth.
We believe that no woman should ever feel unworthy of love, acceptance or respect. When women seek support at WRRC, we have conversations about her goals, her dreams, and her future. Often she has never had a chance to think about any of these crucial aspects of her life. When you are consumed simply the survival of yourself and your children, there is often little room left to contemplate something as large as the future.
This Christmas, we ask for your financial support to help us show women in Middlesex County that they are loved, accepted and respected. That they belong to a community that will support their needs, and the needs of their children. It’s easier than ever – you can donate online through Canada Helps, and even choose which program you would like to support. Or, if you would prefer, we have a list of donations that we always need, year round here.
Our logo represents the journey that women take with WRRC – one woman facing backward and acknowledging the past and the other facing the warmth and vitality of the future. Our goal at WRRC is to make sure that the future all women and children experience is bright, vibrant, healthy and free from violence all year long.
A few months ago we revealed a new look that better represents this vision and who we are as an organization. The new logo, colours and website reflect an acknowledgement of the wisdom of our past, and our journey toward the future. It’s a journey that we hope you’ll take with us.
